Looking for a holiday village? Discover the gems of Saint-Raphaël: Le Cap du Dramont and Ile d'Or
Just a short half-hour drive from the5-star Oasis Village, discover one of the most beautiful sites in France. In the commune of Saint-Raphaël, the red rocky coastline of Cap du Dramont offers unforgettable walks! Several trails, starting from the picturesque port of Poussaïou and Camp Long beach, will reveal breathtaking panoramas. Compare the red rhyolite, typical of the Estérel region, with the blue estérellite, found as beautiful pebbles on the Plage du Débarquement (Landing Beach). Observe the rich local flora: spiderwort, rockrose, and French lavender—don't all these plant names evoke the scents of the Mediterranean? Make a short detour to the Semaphore, which is still in operation.
The Golden Island: a wonderful landscape that inspired Hergé
From the coast of Cap du Dramont, admire the nearby Île d'Or (Golden Island): it likely inspired Tintin's creator, "The Black Island"! This Saracen-style tower, perched on its rocks in the middle of the sea, truly sparks the imagination. Enjoy this beautiful view from the coastal path, as it is private property and not open to the public. The tower was built in 1912 by a doctor, Auguste Lutaud, who supposedly won the island in a card game and proclaimed himself King Auguste I!
A preserved natural area very close to the 5-star Oasis Village holiday village
Access to the magnificent Cap du Dramont and Île d'Or is very easy from your Oasis Village campsite in Puget-sur-Argens. It only takes half an hour by car to reach one of the Cap's car parks. Two routes are possible, roughly equivalent. Take the DN7 then the D559, passing through Fréjus and Saint-Raphaël, or a little further north, take the DN7 then the D100, a route that avoids the town centers.
